Another Friday yet again, friends!

Important question to start: Have y’all thought about your Halloween costumes for this year yet? If you need some inspiration, here’s a list of seven clever costume ideas to use as a starting point. I’m hoping to hit up Goodwill this weekend to shop for the components of my costume. Here’s hoping they have what I need!

Okay, now that we’ve gotten that critical piece of the post out of the way, let’s move on to the links I’m loving this week:

  • This blazer, in black, is perfection. Who doesn’t need a good blazer (especially this time of year)? And this one’s on sale — you can’t NOT get it!🙂

  • Love Starbucks’ festive drinks, but don’t want all the calories associated with them? Gotcha covered!

  • Where in the WORLD have I been? I didn’t know Suri’s Burn Book was a thing until yesterday, people. It’s amazing, as I’m sure the vast majority of y’all already know.
  • Do you fellow Southerners follow The Bitter Southerner? You definitely should if you haven’t already, since their content is amazing. They also have a great general store, with awesome (and Southern-themed, of course) apparel, home goods, and prints. Get to shopping to find that perfect gift for the bitter Southerner in your life!

Pregnancy Thoughts: Symptoms, Cravings, Clothes, Etc.

Obviously every pregnancy is different, so it’s been interesting to see how this one has been for me so far. It’s also crazy to think that a future pregnancy could look completely different from this one. I wanted to share a few thoughts, symptoms, and experiences I’ve had to date, just to document them, mainly.

(Here’s a shot of the bump and me — and Fulton — this morning, at 26 weeks, day 6):

img_1553

  • Symptoms:

My main symptom (and the most annoying one, for sure) has been heartburn from the start. I’ve become quite the Tums connoisseur (pro tip: they now have a chewy cherry version that is pretty darn delicious), and have tried Zantac as well but felt like it was making me dizzy. I’m going to give Prilosec a go next to see if that can help the heartburn without bringing any other unwelcome symptoms with it. I now have lots of sympathy for people with heartburn, and don’t wish it on anyone! It seems like it would be a relatively benign symptom, and though it doesn’t necessarily get in the way of everyday life in a meaningful way, it’s definitely zero fun and pretty painful.

Other symptoms (none of which have been as consistent as the heartburn) have included: a clicking jaw (not painful), dizziness (but I think this may have been tied to the Zantac), intermittently clogged ears (not painful but super annoying), and stuffiness/congestion in general (might have something to do with the time of year as well). I’ve been so thankful that my symptoms (at least so far) have been very manageable and nothing’s been too extreme. I’ve been able to keep my normal routine, for the most part, and am still sleeping really well. That makes me feel more like myself during this time of lots of change!

  • Cravings:

I didn’t expect to be longing for pickles and ice cream or anything, but I did think I’d start to notice some food aversions or preferences or something. Surprisingly, that hasn’t really happened. During my first trimester, I definitely noticed an increased penchant for all things carbs (cereal, oatmeal, bread, pizza — you name it!), but after that initial 12-week period things kind of went back to normal as far as the types of food I wanted to eat. Something that totally shocked me was discovering that my sweet tooth — which is normally pretty intense — has decreased during pregnancy. My cravings, when I have them, are for salty, savory things like popcorn, soup, and cheese and crackers rather than for cookies, brownies, and chocolate chips. It’s very strange. (I still like sweet stuff for sure, I just don’t feel like I NEED it like I do when I’m not pregnant.)

Luckily, I haven’t yet run into any foods (or food smells) that have made me feel sick. I’m able to eat just about anything without issue, and can handle and prepare food without a problem, either. Whew!

I’ve upped my intake of foods like eggs because they’re high in choline, which helps with neurological development. I’ve also tried to get even more protein than usual. I’m toying with trying liver because it’s high in protein, iron, choline (basically a pregnancy super food), but haven’t pulled the trigger just yet…

I haven’t felt extra hungry, really, but have tried to start eating smaller meals throughout the day since it’s easy to get full really fast — especially at the six-month mark! That helps keep my blood sugar more consistent throughout the day as well.

  • Maternity Clothes:

I’ve had a few sweet friends give me some maternity items, which I’ve been SO thankful for, and have found a couple of other good sources to supplement those hand-me-downs as well. So far, Stitch Fix has been my most reliable source for maternity pieces — especially maternity pants (which have to be the most comfortable pieces of clothing on the planet, aside from maybe leggings). Beyond Yoga’s maternity offerings are my go-to for Pure Barre maternity clothes (I especially love this tank). Other finds that have worked well for me so far are LOFT and Macy’s (I love the Jessica Simpson maternity jeans I just snagged from there!). I’ve been making lots of my non-maternity pieces work, too, which has been nice. Pants are tricky, but leggings still are totally doable (both my workout and daily wear pairs), as are sweaters and things like open cardigans (I’m loving those these days in particular). I feel lucky to be pregnant this time of year.

  • Birth Prep:

I’m obviously new to this whole having a baby deal, and more than anything I want our birth experience to be one I feel good about once it’s over. It’s important to Kevin and me that we arm ourselves with as much information going into the birth as possible so we feel like we can be advocates for ourselves and our baby. For us, that means surrounding ourselves with a strong support team and beefing up on knowledge in the months leading up to our due date.

We’re currently taking a Bradley Method birth class, which we’ve really been enjoying, and I appreciate the holistic viewpoint the class takes. The class focuses not just on labor and delivery but also on pregnancy nutrition, ways to deal with pregnancy symptoms, breastfeeding, infant care, helpful stretching exercises, and more, and I know at the end of the 12-week course we’ll feel so much more informed about what to expect and our birth-related options.

We’re also working with a doula practice, meaning one of the three doulas at the practice will be with us throughout the birth process. I’m looking forward to having that consistent presence — especially from someone who has experienced a couple hundred births versus my zero — with us in the hospital.

Finally, I’m trying to soak in as much information as I can on my own about pregnancy, birth, and infant care/behavior. Most of that research has come from podcasts (I love listening to accounts of other women’s birth experiences) and online reading. Right now, Kevin and I are on the hunt for some good infant care books. Any suggestions from parents out there?

  • Emotions:

I guess you never know what to expect as far as mood and emotion during pregnancy (thanks, hormones!), but fortunately I’ve felt pretty much like me throughout from an emotional standpoint. I tend to be steady in that regard, and so far pregnancy hasn’t changed that state. (I have cried a couple of times — both instances related to maternity leave being so short in the U.S.) I’ve been glad to feel like me emotionally while physically so many changes are taking place.

My main emotion is excitement. I can’t wait to meet this tiny human and discover who she is and what she’s like. I wonder about her constantly, and hope so many good things for her and her life — that she’s smart, kind, loves to laugh, is curious about the world and the people around her. I love that we just have to wait three more months to start that process of getting to know her.

Clothing Items I’ve Loved Both Before And During Pregnancy

As much fun as it is to buy maternity clothes, I was determined not to spend a fortune on that portion of my wardrobe, knowing this whole being pregnant thing wasn’t going to last all that long in the scheme of things. I wanted to be able to repurpose as many existing items of clothing as I could, and thankfully so far have had good luck on that front.

Here are some of the items I owned pre-pregnancy that I’ve gotten the most mileage out of while pregnant:

  • Mossimo Long Lean Tanks (from Target): I have maybe eight of these tanks (in black) and wear them alllll the time. So far, they’re still working great during pregnancy, and are perfect to throw on under an open cardigan, under a sweater, etc.

screen-shot-2017-01-25-at-8-43-33-pm

  • Hue tights: I’ve loved this brand for tights for the last couple of years, and as it turns out they work great during pregnancy, too! They’re durable, affordable, comfortable, and wash really well. Plus, you can really hike them up over your belly when needed… 🙂

screen-shot-2017-01-25-at-8-37-35-pm

  • High-waisted yoga pants: I sure am glad I invested in adding some high-waisted legging options to my workout clothes collection before getting pregnant, because they are perfect for pregnancy as well! I especially love my high-waisted Beyond Yoga and Lululemon leggings. I’m hoping I can make them work for the next seven-ish weeks.

screen-shot-2017-01-25-at-8-32-15-pm

  • Workout tops: Thank goodness for stretchy workout fabric! I’ve been able to get by with almost exclusively non-maternity workout tops (I do have an Ingrid & Isabel maternity tank, as well as a Beyond Yoga one, which are both excellent). As far as my existing workout tank collection goes, I find myself reaching for my Beyond Yoga tops the most, by far. Their Light Classic Racerback and On The Move Racerback Camis just can’t be beat.

screen-shot-2017-01-25-at-8-24-07-pmscreen-shot-2017-01-25-at-8-24-30-pm

  • Aerie Boho Plunge bralettes: I am obsessed with these. I wore them almost daily before I was pregnant, and continue to do so now. They’re supportive but SO comfortable. (Aerie has lots of cute bralettes, and I’ve tried a few styles. This one is far and away my favorite.)

screen-shot-2017-01-25-at-8-21-39-pm

  • Open cardigans and ponchos: Ponchos (like this one from LOFT, which I have and love) are amazing. I mean, come on: blankets that are acceptable to wear out of the house? Uh, yeah. Sign me up. Plus, no zippers or buttons are involved, so there’s plenty of room for a baby bump. Same goes for open cardigans. Those two items (paired with leggings) have been my go-to uniform this fall/winter.

Friday Favorites

Okay, so it’s a Monday. But I had some new favorites I wanted to post and didn’t want to have to wait alllll week to do it. (Y’all are good with that, right?)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Mine was great, and was full of celebration.* On Saturday, my amazing Pure Barre family threw me a baby shower that started off with a Pure Barre staff class and ended with gifts and socialization. It was exactly what I hoped it would be! Thank you to everyone who made that event so special.

img_2001 img_1998

Then, on Saturday evening, Kevin and I joined some other friends to celebrate our friend Ashleigh’s 30th birthday. It was an evening full of good food, laughter, and wonderful people.

*Minus the Super Bowl. Ugh. Poor Falcons!

Okay. So on to those favorites I was talking about:

screen-shot-2017-02-06-at-7-33-53-am

screen-shot-2017-02-06-at-7-40-08-am

  • Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale Series. As a huge fan of this book (and Margaret Atwood in general), I was super pumped to see this advertised last night during the Super Bowl. I can’t wait to check out the series when it launches in April, and think it might be worth re-subscribing to Hulu for. (Especially because at that point I’ll be looking for some good maternity leave shows to watch! Perfect timing…)

screen-shot-2017-02-06-at-7-43-19-am

  • Fairlife Chocolate Milk. I’ve posted about this stuff before on my Facebook page, but I had to mention it here, too, because when I think about my “favorites” of late, this milk definitely qualifies. It’s kind of become my wine substitute during pregnancy (and I even have a special glass I like to drink it out of). Kevin and I both love this stuff, and not just for its taste (which is top notch). It also has much more protein and much less sugar than other chocolate milk brands. Good taste and good nutrition? Yeah, sign me up!

Hope your week gets off to a great start!

Springtime Shoe Loves

It’s chilly this week in Winston-Salem, but we managed to avoid the snowstorm that blasted so many Northeastern states over the last few days. (Thank goodness!) I think everyone’s pretty ready for springtime around here, and maybe that’s why I find myself drawn to all the adorable warm-weather shoes I’ve been seeing lately. (Anyone else?)

Including both casual picks and more put together pairs, here are some of the springtime shoe choices that are at the top of my wish list:

What springtime shoes are you lusting after?

Happy Friday from the beach!

I go back to work Monday, June 5, so this is our “last hurrah” trip before reality — and a NEW reality at that — sets in. It’s so hard to believe my maternity leave is coming to an end. These past few weeks home with my girl have been amazingly special, and I’m so grateful for this time we’ve had together. I’m trying to soak in these last few days where I’m on 100% mom duty to really get the most out of them. Fellow working moms out there: Any tips on dealing with the transition back to work? I know it’s going to be a rough few weeks at first!

In the meantime, though, we’re at the beach — YAY! (I’m so fortunate that my in-laws live here and we get to visit the beach so frequently. It’s fun knowing Maggie will grow up coming here often. I’m sure she’s going to love it here as much as her dad and I do!)

On that happy note, here are some things I’m loving of late:

  • I got new running shoes! I think I bought my last pair five years ago or so, so it was definitely time to invest in a new pair. I don’t run nearly as often as I do Pure Barre, but after so long I’d logged quite a few miles in my old Nikes. I’ve only had a couple of runs in these New Balances (part of their Fresh Foam line) so far, but I’m loving them. They’re comfy, lightweight, and pretty cute (which never hurts). 🙂

  • This Albion Fit jumpsuit. I have a handful of pieces from this brand (including these leggings and this adorable romper), and I’m dying to add one of their jumpsuits to my collection. They come in three colors (I especially love the Sage and Granite), and hopefully they’ll be restocking in lots of the sizes soon!

  • Loren Hope’s stack sets. I’ve loved this brand for a while, and have written about my adoration for their bracelets in previous posts. Now, though, the brand has rolled out a curated “Stack Shop” collection, where you can purchase pre-styled bracelet sets. I want every single one of them (but the Gold Rush Stack might be my fave…).

  • Hasan Minjah’s Netflix special. Kevin and I watched this new special earlier this week, and Minjah (who you might recognize from The Daily Show) is captivating as he talks about his experience growing up as the son of Muslim Indian immigrants. It’s funny for sure, but also beautifully done (both his storytelling and the production of the special itself), and is most definitely worth a watch.
  • Beautycounter samples. I’ve loved becoming a Beautycounter consultant because it means I get to share a brand I love with other women. The best way to experience Beautycounter, I think, is through samples! After all, it’s great to be able to try out some of their products before purchasing the full-sized versions. If you haven’t tried Beatycounter’s skincare or make-up products for yourself yet but would be interested in doing so, please let me know (either by commenting on this post or emailing me at annaskeller@gmail.com). I’d love to get some samples sent straight to your mailbox!

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Hope you have fun plans ahead of you.

Beyond Yoga: My Top Summer Picks

As some of you already know, I’m a regular contributor to Beyond Yoga’s blog. This is such a fun gig because I’m a huge fan of the brand, and so it’s an honor to be one of their content creators.

Because I write for Beyond Yoga, I spend a good amount of time on their website and get to drool over all the beautiful items they have available. This is one of my go-to brands for Pure Barre, because their clothing both performs and is ridiculously soft and comfortable (as in, I sleep in these leggings regularly). So I guess that means they’re one of my go-to brands for life, not just Pure Barre.

In case you haven’t checked out the brand’s latest offerings (or are unfamiliar with this brand overall), I decided to round up a few of the top BY pieces I’m loving this season. Enjoy! (Oh, and this is not a sponsored post or anything. I just genuinely love this brand and wanted to share!):

Happy shopping!

Christmas PJ Picks For The Family

I’m going to file this post under my Holiday Gift Guides section on my blog, because I know many families (the one I married into included) gift pajamas this time of year, and I just love that tradition! Whether you want the whole fam to match or are looking for everyone to have his or her own cozy look, I’ve rounded up a few oh-so festive options for you to choose from. (This was a hard list to narrow down!):

For The Whole Family:

H17d2-FamilyMatchingPJ-module-deerdear

  • Amazon also has some awesome family set options (there are even PJs for your pup), including these and these.

For Her:

  • Target has SUCH CUTE WOMEN’S HOLIDAY PJS RIGHT NOW. These and these (okay, and these) are my favorites!

52510687

  • Since Maggie was born, I’ve kind of been coveting the one-piece outfits she often wears, so a PJ version for me is something that could be kind of excellent! I love this Burt’s Bees option.

Screen Shot 2017-11-21 at 10.08.43 AM

For Him:

  • Don’t these look comfy? They’d be perfect not just for the holidays, but for all winter long!

For The Little Ones:

  • My sister and I got these PJs for our kiddos’ first Christmas. I love that they have slightly different versions for the girls versus the boys. These are very inexpensive and the quality seems pretty good, but they do take a while to arrive, so if you like them I’d recommend placing your order sooner than later.

November Wardrobe Challenge: Week Four Update

Week Four of my November Wardrobe Challenge has come and gone, and I have a confession: I did some clothes shopping over the Thanksgiving holiday. (As a reminder, one of the “rules” of my challenge is to not buy any new clothing items for a month. Oops.)

In my defense, however, I got some good deals, and I didn’t go overboard or anything. Plus, after 3.5 weeks of the challenge, I had a good feel for things my wardrobe could use (black booties) and things I definitely am set on (sweaters).

Here’s what I snagged over the holiday weekend:

So I didn’t do TOO much damage (and I restrained myself from making MANY other clothing purchases, so I’m proud of that!).

Okay, on to my outfit recaps from the past week. I didn’t do a great job of capturing them each day, but in my defense I was traveling (to New Jersey for a work photo shoot Monday through Wednesday, then to the North Carolina coast Wednesday through Saturday). Here goes nothing!:

Thursday, November 23 (Thanksgiving!):

Winter Wardrobe Challenge: Week Six Update

Another week, another wardrobe overview!

My biggest clothing-related news from this past week is the amazing TJMaxx deal I found over the weekend on this too-comfy-to-ever-take-off half-zip fleece by Thread & Supply. At our Robinhood Road TJMaxx it was just $24.99, and then when I looked online the same fleece is $96. Holy savings, Batman! I don’t know if there are any left in our Winston-Salem store, but it might be worth swinging by your local TJMaxx to see if they have one of these. It’s really awesome, y’all. (I sized way up and got a large, and LOVE how over sized and cozy it is.) Oh, update: I found a slightly cheaper option — same brand — at Nordstrom — $78 with free shipping.

Okay, let’s get to the recap:

Wednesday, December 6:

Winter Wardrobe Challenge: Week Seven Update

So, I think my 2017 Winter Wardrobe Challenge has come to an end! (I’m at the point where I’ve worn something different every day for seven weeks and am ready to re-wear some items!)

As always, I’m glad I went through this exercise. It’s such a reminder of how much I already have in my closet, and even though I definitely broke the rule and bought a few new items during this challenge (oops!), I was MUCH more aware of what I already had, and tried to buy things in areas I was lacking. I also pulled out several items that I never wear anymore and am going to donate them, so it was helpful to get those cleared out.

I’ll continue to share outfits from time to time via Instagram Stories if you want to follow along there and, of course, I often include fashion-related items I love in my Friday Favorites posts. Thanks to those of you who followed along on this latest challenge! I’ll probably do another one in the spring or summer.

But for now, I’ll leave you with one last recap of my outfits from last week! (Please don’t mind the super messy room in the background of a couple of these. If you read my post from yesterday, you’ll get it!):

I hope everyone had a magical Christmas!

Ours was wonderful in every way, particularly because Maggie and her cousin Benjamin got to celebrate their first Christmas together AND we got to see both sides of the family on Christmas Day! Lucky, lucky us.

IMG_1218

We’ve enjoyed spending time with my family in Atlanta, and will be headed to the North Carolina coast this evening to spend the rest of the week and New Year’s Eve/Day there.

In between the festivities and work, I’ve managed to squeeze in just a little bit of online shopping to check out what deals are out there post-Christmas. I intentionally haven’t spent tons of time shopping, but did want to share some of the fun deals I stumbled upon with y’all in case you’re looking for similar items! Below is a hodgepodge of several things that caught my eye:

  • These BP. by Nordstrom Mesh Leggings are SO great, y’all (and they’re on major sale!). They’re a perfect basic legging with just a touch of flair. I got compliments galore the first day I wore them (last week)!

If you’re looking to add to your Pure Barre workout wardrobe this month, you’ve come to the right place! I’ve rounded up a few favorite picks, broken up by some of my go-to workout wardrobe brands. (I chose many of these pieces because they’ll be great for the transition from winter to spring. Why not plan ahead, right? After all, these pieces are made to last.):

Pure Barre: Let’s start here, shall we? After all, Pure Barre sells some adorable clothing items, and you can find them both in your local studio and on Pure Barre’s website.

“How do you curl your hair?”

I’m asked this often, and it seems like lots many of you are interested in getting a peek into how I do my hair.

First of all, thank you for the compliment! Y’all know how to make a girl feel good. 🙂

Family Photo Session in Ardmore of the Keller's

Secondly, I have great news: It’s SO EASY. And I’ve even made a video to prove to you how simple it is.

I’ve been excited to post this for a while, but haven’t gotten around to making a video until now. Now I finally have a video (yay!), and so this post is all about how I curl my hair. (Spoiler alert: It’s ridiculously easy, takes around 10 minutes, and requires minimal products/tools.)

Now, of course, everyone’s hair is different, and though this process works well for me, it might not turn out the same for you. Also, I recommend curling hair that hasn’t been freshly washed, which I address in my video. (Oh, and the lighting on the video isn’t amazing, so I’m sorry about that! I recorded at my vanity in my bedroom, where I get ready each morning, just because that felt like a familiar space. And you can definitely get the gist, even though the lighting isn’t perfect.)

Oh, one more note: You can find links to the products and tools I use below the video, so feel free to check those out if you’re interested in them. (I can’t recommend the curling wand highly enough! I think it’s about two years old — maybe even three — and it’s going strong.)

My Favorite Bralettes

I’ve mentioned my bralette love on my blog before, but wanted to revisit the topic since it’s one I’m passionate about. (Being “passionate about” a bra style sounds a bit extreme, I realize. So maybe we’ll just say I’m a big fan of the bralette*. A really big fan.)

Why so much love? Well:

  • They’re SO COMFORTABLE. These are basically sports bras, but ones that are acceptable to wear with any kind of clothing. Think of them as the leggings equivalent to bras.
  • They’re pretty. I love the delicate, feminine look of bralettes.
  • They’re versatile. They look just a lovely (and appropriate) with a casual outfit as they do with a fancy one. I LOVED using my bralettes as nursing bras, too!
  • They make worrying about bra straps showing a thing of the past. In fact, it looks great if you see your bralette strap, because I think they tend to add to the look of an outfit. (They just look like a pretty tank top beneath.)
    • NOTE: I’m super picky about my bralette style for this fourth reason. I never buy bralettes with adjustable straps, because I think that makes them look more like regular bras (meaning the straps — at least the portion with the adjustment element — shouldn’t show). I realize this means you’re not able to customize the fit quite as much, but I’m a stickler about the no adjustable straps rule. Personally, I haven’t run into any fit issues as a result.

*I’ve heard from lots of my, ahem, more well-endowed friends that bralettes don’t provide the amount of support they need, so just keep that in mind. For reference, my bra size is 34B, and for me bralettes are plenty supportive, but if you’re a larger size they might not be right for you in an everyday kind of way like they are for me.

Are you on board? Okay! Let’s proceed with some of my favorite styles:

  • Hands down, my go-to bralette brand is Aerie. (Caveat: You HAVE to shop online. They have far more styles on the website than they do in the store.) My very favorite styles (ones I reach for day after day) are the Boho Racerback and the Boho Bandeau (the best strapless bra ever!). I don’t have the Chill Seamless High Neck, but it might be my next purchase. Too cute! (Side note: Aerie also has adorable bathing suits. I’ll do a roundup of cute swimsuits soon, so stay tuned!)
  • The Alo Deluxe Sports Bra is, as the name suggests, technically a sports bra, but I have it and love wearing it in outside of the Pure Barre studio, too! It comes in so many cute colors. (I have it in black, but want it in both the blue and pink, too!)

If you’re a fellow bralette lover, what are some of your favorite brands or styles?

It’s that time again, y’all: swimsuit season! (I know — it always sneaks up on me, too.)

But the good news is twofold: warm weather is on the horizon (yayyyy!) and there are LOTS of cute suits to choose from this year!

Here are a few of the styles I’m drawn to this season:

  • I want to start with this suit from UK Swimwear, because it’s one I own! I LOVE the style of this suit, because it’s a two-piece that’s so very mom friendly. Because the top is more like a sports bra, it will stay in place even if you’re carrying a baby around beach- or poolside. Despite being functional, it’s SO cute. (Size reference: I went with a UK10 and it fits great! I usually wear a Small in U.S. suits.)

  • One more one piece? Why not? (This one might be my favorite of them all…):

  • Okay, maybe THIS one is my top one-piece pick. (How to choose?):

  • This one is so sporty and fun. (I have an L-Space suit and am so impressed with their quality!):

  • Fun fact: I went to college with the girls who started this bathing suit brand, Kay & Elle. This top is SO cute:

Which do you like? Which should I go with? So many cute choices!

Sharing Ana Luisa Jewelry (And A Coupon Code!) With You

As you know, I’m very particular about brands I feature on my blog. I only want to share things that I’ve experienced firsthand and can wholeheartedly recommend to y’all. That’s why I say no to some of the brands who reach out to me for partnerships: If it doesn’t feel like a good fit — and if I don’t LOVE the product or brand — I just don’t feel right about highlighting it here.

All that to say, when you get a recommendation from curiouser & curiouser, I hope you feel like you can trust it to be a good one. And boy, do I have a good one to recommend to you today…

Ana Luisa Jewelry — a brand I wasn’t familiar with — reached out to me recently and offered to send me some of their pieces to try out. I selected a couple of bracelets (this one and this one), and Y’ALL. I fell in LOVE with them. (Oh, and they hooked me up with a $15 discount code for y’all, too! Use AnnaK15 at checkout to save $15 on your purchase.)

I’ve been wearing them nonstop since I got them, and they are so completely and totally my style. (When I showed them to Kevin, his comment was, “Wow. Those could not be more perfect for you.” He knows me well! 🙂 )

Oh, and Maggie’s a fan as well. All three Kellers love these bracelets!

IMG_4705

If you follow me on Instagram, you likely know that I love stacking bracelets. These are ideal for that, and so far I’ve worn them on their own, with a third bracelet, and with a watch. They look great each way! They’re lightweight but obviously very well crafted, and I can comfortably wear them to work, to the Pure Barre studio, and also at home. (Versatility like that is always a plus for me — anything to save time and make life juuuust a little easier!)

Ana Luisa‘s goal is to take the middle man out of the designer jewelry game (meaning you get beautifully made pieces for a fraction of what they’d typically cost). The brand is based out of New York, and each piece of jewelry is individually handcrafted from high-quality materials.

“The fact that quality jewelry was crazy expensive and most of us ended up buying overpriced breakable jewelry was infuriating, so we decided to change the status quo. We knew we had to shake things up and disrupt the way jewelry is designed, produced, and distributed.”

I can’t wait to add more Ana Luisa pieces to my jewelry collection, and currently have my eye on these earrings.

What are you loving from their collection?

Don’t forget to use AnnaK15 if you place an order to save $15!

(But seriously — aren’t these bracelets amazing? I can’t get over how much I love them. If you see me in the near future, I will most likely be wearing these! They go with everything and are a dream to wear.)

Okay, yes. I’m a little late to the blogger game here. BUT, I asked y’all on Instagram whether you’d like to hear from me regarding some things I’m eyeing during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and the majority of you said you would be. So I’m sharing some of my favorites from the sale (which goes on through August 5).

One tip I’d give you about this sale: If you see something you like, don’t wait to buy it! The Spanx Faux Leather Leggings I snagged are already sold out. Yikes — glad I didn’t wait on those!

What To Pack For A Trip To France In September

This blog post was born as a result of a request, which is always SO FUN! (Please send topics my way if you’d like to see them covered. I always LOVE getting suggestions for content.) My sister, Susan, is traveling to France next month (lucky girl!) for a family wedding on her husband’s side of the family. She reached out to see if I could write about some packing tips for their upcoming trips. I’m happy to oblige, Susan, and hope you find this post helpful! (It’s for you, too, Liz!)

franceparistoureiffeltowersunset

Susan and I have done a good bit of traveling in our day, thanks in large part to our parents prioritizing travel for us growing up. Despite being a seasoned traveler, I admit I always have a tendency to over pack. (Kevin knows this all too well!) Inevitably, I end up using about a third of the things I brought, no matter where I’m traveling. With that habit in mind, this was a helpful post for me to put together because it reminded me of how little you actually need to travel with PLENTY of things (but not TOO many).

Okay, let’s get to some tips, shall we?:

  • First of all: weather. From what I’ve read, you’ll be in for some pretty gorgeous weather this time of year with highs in the low 70s. You might get some rain, so I would definitely pack a lightweight raincoat/trench.
  • Choose dresses over shorts. It will still be summertime when you travel, but the French aren’t very into shorts, so reach for dresses instead. These also tend to pack well and often don’t take up much room in the suitcase — a definite bonus! (And since Susan is going for a wedding, at least one dress will be a must!)
  • Leave your hair dryer at home. Almost every hotel will have one.
  • Limit yourself to two pairs of shoes (and they shouldn’t be sneakers). Bring one pair that’s a little dressier but still comfy (these are the ones you can wear to wedding-related events and out to dinner, etc.) and a second, more casual pair that’s chic but that will also work well for walking around in.
  • Include a cardigan in your carry on. Things will cool down at night, so be prepared! Make this a neutral color so it will work for any outfit. (It will likely come in handy on the plane, too!)
  • Summer scarves make great functional accessories. You can use these both as a way to spice up an outfit and for a little extra warmth when needed, making it a much more multi-purpose accessory than a necklace!
  • Pack chic pants that you can re-wear. Include one or two pairs of pants you love, and that will work with multiple tops. Maybe opt for one pair of jeans and one non-denim pair just to mix it up…
  • Keep the tops simple. As with the pants, it’s ideal to pack tops that you can easily pair with different pants. Go with solid colors when possible. You also want to pack fabrics that aren’t too delicate, and that will look great even after hours or days shoved into a suitcase!
  • Don’t forget your Beautycounter Color Intense Lipstick! You want to look your best in France, and this long-lasting lip color will help you do just that. It will come in handy for the wedding as well! (With eight shades to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect one for you.)
  • Plan for your electronics. This adapter and converter in one seems like a super easy option on that front!
  • Bring along a small bag for your trip home. This was something Mom and Dad always did, Susan, and I love it! Include a small bag in your luggage so that you easily have a way to bring home items if you’ve bought souvenirs. (These would do the trick and are very affordable!)
  • Go with a small, cross body purse. This makes it easy and comfortable to be on the go during your visit (and they tend to be safer from pick pocketers than a backpack).
  • Make sure your accessories can do double — or triple — duty. Choose earrings, necklaces, and bracelets that will pair well with a few different outfits, rather than statement pieces that just go with one.

I’m so excited for your trip, Susan, and hope this was a bit helpful!
